Overview

LP-AM261 is a cost-optimized development board for Sitara™ high-performance microcontrollers (MCUs) from the AM261x series. This board is ideal for initial evaluation and prototyping as it provides a standardized and easy-to-use platform to develop your next application.

LP-AM261 is equipped with a Sitara AM2612 MCU, along with additional components, allowing the user to make use of various device interfaces, including industrial Ethernet (IE), standard Ethernet, fast serial interface (FSI) and others to easily create prototypes. AM261 supports a variety of IE protocols, such as EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET®.

This extended LaunchPad™ XL development kit offers additional I/O pins for development and supports connection of up to two BoosterPack™ plug-in modules. LP-AM261 also features an intuitive out-of-box user's guide to quickly start design evaluation.

Release Information

Thank you for your interest in the AM261x Industrial Communications Software Development Kit (SDK). This software accelerates application development schedules by eliminating the need to create basic system software functions from scratch.


  • This SDK contains examples, libraries, and tools to develop RTOS-based Industrial Communication applications on PRU-ICSS.
  • The exact content of the SDK depends on the capabilities of the device, but all devices share common APIs and build on existing proven software components to ensure reliability and quality.
  • The software components are fully tested to ensure that they work together with TI’s Code Composer Studio integrated development environment.

What's new

  • PROFINET RT/IRT Demo
  • EtherCAT-IOLink Gateway Demo
  • Includes MCU-PLUS-SDK-AM261X version "10.02.00.15"
  • This SDK supports LP-AM261 Rev. E2 only. The upcoming LP-AM261 board revision will feature integrated DP83869 Ethernet PHYs onboard, replacing the DP83826E daughter card approach used in LP-AM261 Rev. E2.
