Overview

The TMAG5170UEVM is an easy-to-use platform to evaluate the main features and performance of the TMAG5170. The evaluation module (EVM) includes a graphical user interface (GUI) used to read and write registers, and to view and save measurement results. Also included is a 3D-printed rotate-and-push module to test the common functions of angle measurement and push button with a single device.

Get started

  1. Order this EVM.
  2. If the GUI is needed, order the TI-SCB.
  3. Select and order desired magnetic attachment: SLIDEBY-MAG-ACC, HEADON-MAG-ACC, JOYSTICK-MAG-ACC, or ROTATEPUSH-MAG-ACC.
  4. Download EVM user’s guide, and if necessary, the magnetic attachment user’s manual.
  5. Connect the magnetic attachment to the EVM.
  6. If the TI-SCB is used for PC GUI communication:
    • Connect the TI-SCB to the EVM.
    • Connect a USB cable from the TI-SCB to a PC.
    • Run the EVM GUI software (GUI link is provided in the EVM user’s guide).
    • View the EVM user guide instructions on how to flash the TI-SCB with the appropriate firmware
  7. Configure device as necessary.
  8. Take measurements.

Required
To enable device configuration and data capture over USB connection.
Why do I need this? The TI Sensor Control board will interface with the GUI for this evaluation module to simplify device configuration and data visualization.
