TIPD116

Data acquisition for ECG systems, discrete LEAD I ECG implementation reference design

TIPD116

Design files

Overview

This verified design is for Electrocardiography (ECG), the measurement of the electrical activity of the heart, a method that requires a precision analog front end instrumentation gain stage, filtering, and high resolution digital conversion. This design features the methodology for achieving a LEAD I ECG measurement system designed from discrete analog components. Ultra low power is optimized by an instrumentation front end using an OPA2333 and is digitized by the 18 bit ADS8881.

Features
  • 18 Bit, 10ksps Sampling Rate
  • 200Hz ECG Signals
  • Optimization: ECG
  • Power: 1.5mW @ AVDD = 3.3V
  • Utilizes ADS8881 (18bit, 1Msps SAR ADC), OPA2333 (Input/INA), OPA313 + REF3330 (Reference)
This verified design includes:
  • Theory
  • Component Selection
  • TINA-TI Simulation
  • Schematics and PCB Layout
  • Verification and Measured Performance
  • Modification Options
