TIDA-010249
Four-channel synchronous vibration sensor interface reference design
TIDA-010249
Overview
This reference design explains the theory, design and testing of a synchronous, four-channel wideband high-resolution interface. The main targets are the vibration sensing applications, but the design can also be applied to any application that requires wideband, such as three-phase voltage and current monitoring in power factor measurement.
Features
- Synchronous four-channel wideband integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) sensor interface
- 24-bit 20-kHz bandwidth conversion
- Data rate of 124 kSPS (daisy chain), 1 MSPS (parallel SPI)
- ±10-V AC input and 320-kΩ input impedance
- Onboard four excitation current (about 3.5 mA)
- Onboard non-isolated 5-V to 24-V boost
A fully assembled board has been developed for testing and performance validation only, and is not available for sale.

Release Information
Required hardware:
- TIDA-010249 reference design hardware (non-orderable, Gerber files only)
- PHI Controller card (from ADS127L11EVM-PDK)
Known issues / limitations:
- Effective data rate is reduced in one-shot control mode
- SCLK=CLK set to 16MHz, hence OSR=32,24,16,12 are not supported in daisy-chain mode & OSR 12 is not supported in parallel SDO mode
- SCLK and MCLK from PHI are not synchronous and may result in slightly reduced noise performance
- Sample count is limited to 1M
What's new
- V1.1.0 - Patch to resolve GUI freezing on startup
- V1.0.0 - Initial release
